EXCLUSIVE: More Details On Impact Wrestling Airing In Japan
Posted 24 January 2013 - 12:48 AM
Unfortunately for TNA fans in Japan, the episodes will be approximately 1 month behind. This is due to both time and translation constraints. Currently Impact Wrestling is being translated with subtitles only and no voice-over work being will be available. The first airing of TNA Impact Wrestling which aired in Japan was the December 20 episode.
There is a silver lining to the delay however, many episodes will be re-run throughout the month while still maintaining their prime time Saturday night timeslot. The first episode of Impact Wrestling will be shown 3 separate times on different days through the month of January and February. Nearly all episodes are scheduled to air with at least 2 re-runs. This will give many fans the opportunity catch episodes they may have missed.
The belief going into this TV deal is that G+ will be pushing Impact Wrestling as their primary brand of pro wrestling airing on the network from this point forward. G+ has offered up as many as 3 times more time slots for Impact Wrestling, pay per view programming and replays than they have for Japan's native Pro Wrestling NOAH, Pro Wrestling Classics show and special Indy wrestling promotion events combined.
The current deal brings them relatively up to par with WWE in terms of their flagship programming and competitive time slots. RAW, Smackdown and NXT are aired on premium satellite and cable JSports channels on slightly earlier time slots. It does not bring them up to par with WWE's overall marketing in Japan however; WWE offers up their international recap show, WWE This Week" to approximately a dozen free to air local channels in Japan.
TNA Genesis 2013 will air on NTV G+ on February 16 2013
