SPIKE TV’S “IMPACT WRESTLING” MOVING TO 8:00PM ET/PT ON THURSDAYS BEGINNING MAY 31
Spike TV’s highly-rated two-hour weekly series, TNA’s “IMPACT Wrestling” is moving to a new timeslot. On Thursday, May 31 “IMPACT Wrestling will air at 8:00pm ET/PT, moving from its previous timeslot of 9:00pm ET/PT.
The shift to 8:00pm is predicated on the fact that there are more available viewers in the 8:00-10:00pm timeslot with less sports competition in the 8pm hour.
TNA’s flagship series, “IMPACT Wrestling,” airs weekly on Spike TV and is one of the network’s top-rated series. The show is must-see-tv with young men and currently ranks among the top series on cable on Thursdays with Men 18-34.
The TNA roster features many of the top names in wrestling including Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle, Booby Roode, Sting, James Storm, Rob Van Dam, and the lovely and lethal Knockouts.

so they move up one hour because they cant score the ratings they already had before? So sad

This is a good move for Impact, since there's usually nothing on television from 8 to 9pm anyway. 8 to 10pm used to be the original time slot for Monday Night raw, until Nitro debuted and pushed them back an hour. So I don't think that there is a built-in audience at 9pm. Also, Impact has had a weak lead-in from the 8pm hour ever since UFC left.

I think this is awesome! I've been saying TNA should do this for awhile now. this can allow more people to be able to watch the show. how many people out there have to go to bed before 11 because of work or school? now they can watch the show. not only that but this avoids other shows TNA was up against at the 10 PM hour, like MTV Jersey Shore, Beavis and Butthead, and Punk'd, which is watched by the younger audience TNA should be going after.
the product quality is not as bad the ratings they have been getting. the quality isn't OMG great, but it should be getting better ratings.

Yes, as the article stated, this is clearly the reason. You know, forget the fact that TNA just renewed their deal with Spike. Forget the fact that this took place before the shitty ratings came about. Nah, let's just be trolls. That's always a better option. Let's put it in our names too, so people know we're for real. Hazzah! Now we're cool on the Internet. All that's missing is a little Russo cock to ride on. Oh Viiiiiiince!

I haven't went to bed before 11 regularly since the 3rd grade.
Anyways it doesn't affect me because I work late a lot on thursdays and DVR the show most of the time. Also I doubt there is going to be much of a ratings boost because of this move, maybe they will pick up a couple more viewers in the last few quarter hours but that is about it..

This will be a great move. On an hour earlier will definitely get more people to watch and hook more viewers in. Especially come football season. Smart move by the best, TNA Impact Wrestling.

I wouldn't be surprised if there a good number of men aged say 30+ that used to watch WWF when they were kids, that now don't watch much wrestling because they are married with a family and have to go to bed before 11 in order to get up early enough to go to their day job.

OMG! I've wannted this forever. I can't always be able to get up at 6 a.m if I go to sleep at 11:30. I guess the ratings were good last night.

They probably renewed because the the ratings are in the shit and couldn't go somewhere else.

Yeah, Im going to forget about this one. Im going to forget that this announcement comes after the shitty ratings came in. NOT before. This is a desperation move. at least they let everyone know that in the press release.

If Vince Russo fucked my ass right now and it made impact wrestling tv, it would have better ratings than the best thing bischoff and prichard ever put together.

Probably not, no doubt they'll have discussed this recently and decided if things continue to head in the wrong direction they will change it.
Either way, TNA has had 8 different timeslots since debuting on Spike back in October 2005. Changes are putting off the viewers and if they continue down this path they won't be getting many more opportunity's from Spike regardless of wherever they have just signed a new deal or not.

It's not rocket science, once they moved to Thursdays (from the Saturday 11pm) they were slowly building a audience that was enjoying the product on a Thursday, the change to Monday's really didn't work and ever since then they've struggled to get that consistency that they had when they were on Thursdays at 9pm.
The big concern is what if 8pm doesn't work, then what?

"It's not rocket science"- if you even knew half of the variables that affect the increase and decrease in Television ratings you'd be singing a different tune. You honestly attribute any change to ratings (positive or negative) to a single factor which happened to coincide with that change? It's like saying TNA hit two 0.9's because James Storm is off TV. It makes just as much sense.
Hey, watch this. TNA hit two 0.9's because James Storm is off TV. Common sense, bro. He was on TV - ratings were normal. He is off TV - ratings went down. James Storm = ratings. Prove me wrong.
