The Bound for Glory Series, which was won by Bobby Roode last year, is returning this year, with the official reveal of the competitors done during 06/14/2012 edition of Impact Wrestling, in a Gauntlet Match. Like last year, 12 wrestlers will compete with each other over the course of the next three months, earning points as they win(or by some other means also. Check the rules posted below). The top 4 point-holders at the end of 09/06/2012 edition of Impact Wrestling will qualify for the play-offs, to be held on the No Surrender 2012 PPV on 09/09/2012. However, unlike last year, every wrestler will wrestle each other only once before the play-offs, which means, each wrestler has 11 singles matches in the series(before play-offs), and there will be 66 singles matches in total before the play-offs. The matches will be held during Impact Wrestling broadcasts, pay-per-views, and even house shows.

Like last year, I'll update this thread with latest news and results related to the series, including all available results from house shows(gathered from twitter or other sources), so that we can have a proper place to discuss the series with complete and latest info. The latest standings will be updated by me here on a regular basis, when the series officially starts.

Check the following 5 posts regularly for rules of the series, latest standings, summary of matches, upcoming matches, and other things related to the series.

Rules:
According to TNA's site, each wrestler will wrestle each other ONCE, which should mean 11 singles matches(once with each of the other 11 wrestlers), and can earn/lose points, depending upon the outcome of the match, according to the following table:

Quote

Submission Victory – 10 points
Pinfall Victory – 7 points
Countout Victory – 5 points
Disqualification Victory – 3 points
Draw – 2 points
Disqualification Loss – minus 10 points

Note: Draw(worth 2 points each to the wrestlers involved) means one of the following:
(i)Time limit expiration
(ii)Double Countout
(iii)Double Disqualification

Besides these, there may be special multi-man matches, like the 11-man Gauntlet match to kick of the series, with the points system for those matches to be announced as and when they happen.

Also, aside from special matches and unless otherwise specified, all BFG series matches will have a 10-minute time limit(as announced on 06/21/2012 edition of Impact Wrestling)
UPDATE: Just before the 06/28/2012 edition of Impact Wrestling, Hulk Hogan tweeted that this rule is now amended, and all future BFG Series matches, starting from that Impact, will now have a 15-minute time-limit.

According to TNA's website, the standings will be “locked” on the September 6 edition of Impact Wrestling, and the top 4 will compete at No Surrender 2012 in "play-off" matches, which suggest that we'll have true semi-final and final matches on No Surrender, unlike last year(where even someone who lost in a semi-final match could theoretically win the series, if he was the leader in the points table after No Surrender.).

The top scorer after the league stage will get to choose his opponent(from the other in Top 4) for his semi-final match at No Surrender. The 2 wrestlers in Top 4, who are uninvolved in that match, will face each other in the second semi-final on that event. After these two semi-finals, final will be held on the same event, later that night.

Summary of MATCHES till now:

(1) 06/14/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
James Storm won the inaugural BFG series match, a 11-man Gauntlet match featuring the first 11 BFG series participants.

- The gauntlet was organized to introduce the first 11 competitors of the series, with the loser of the World Championship match between Bobby Roode© and Mr. Anderson later that night, becoming the 12th competitor(which is Mr. Anderson).
- The 11 competitors were(in order of their appearance in the match):
AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam, Magnus, Bully Ray, Kurt Angle, The Pope, Robbie E, Daniels, Samoa Joe, & James Storm.
- The winner of this gauntlet match was to get a head start in the series by getting 20 points. So, James Storm leads the series in its first week with 20 points.
- Bully Ray was eliminated due to outside interference of Abyss, who came out from under the ring.
- The match saw the return of The Pope to TNA.
- Daniels eliminated both Styles and Angle, after Styles hit Angle(his tag team championship partner) by mistake.
The equation: plus 20 points to James Storm.

(2) 06/21/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Mr. Anderson defeated Daniels by pinfall

- It was the first BFG series match on an Open Fight Night.
- Anderson called out Daniels as he hated the fact that Daniels was trying to destroy a family(reference to the AJ-Dixie storyline).
- Anderson got a clean win after a mic-check.
The equation: plus 7 points to Mr. Anderson.

(3) 06/21/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Kurt Angle defeated Robbie E by submission

- Angle answered the open challenge of Robbie to any of the other BFG Series contestants on OFN.
- Angle won in under a minute with his Ankle Lock, with ZERO offence from Robbie E.
The equation: plus 10 points to Kurt Angle.

(4) 06/21/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Magnus defeated AJ Styles by pinfall

- Magnus called out AJ Styles on OFN, thinking him to be easy pickings due to AJ's divided focus(reference to AJ-Dixie stroryline). He also calls AJ selfish and a home-wrecker.
- Styles was again distracted by Daniels and Kazarian(holding some papers/photos), leading to the pinfall victory by Magnus.
The equation: plus 7 points to Magnus.

(5) 06/21/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
James Storm defeated Samoa Joe by pinfall

- Samoa Joe said no other BFG Series competitor had the guts to call him out on OFN, so he himself will call someone out. He then called out James Storm, fresh on the heels of last week's gauntlet, which was won by Storm after eliminating Joe in the end.
- Storm wins this short, but ultra-competitive match with the Last Call superkick.
- Joe shows his respect to storm after the match by handing him a beer bottle to celebrate.
The equation: plus 7 points to James Storm.

(6) 06/21/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
The Pope defeated Bully Ray by pinfall

- Bully Ray had 3 BFG competitors left to call out(RVD, Jeff hardy, and The Pope), and he chose The Pope, since he was expected to be an easy opponent after having left wrestling for Hollywood as of late. Bully Ray said that he would take the easy 10 points here.
- Abyss appeared in the crowd, and The Pope won the match taking advantage of this.
- Abyss chased Ray after the match.
The equation: plus 7 points to The Pope.

(7) 06/21/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Jeff Hardy defeated Rob Van Dam by pinfall

- Hulk Hogan said that the fact that no other BFG series competitior called out either RVD or Jeff Hardy shows that these are the two biggest names, and the favorites to win the entire series. Those two would later face in the final BFG series match on that OFN.
- During the match, RVD motioned as if he was going for a 5-star frog splash, but instead tried a 450 splash, which was ducked by Hardy, immediately followed by a quick DDT by Hardy, and a 2 count. But he then immediately hit a Twist of Fate for the win.
The equation: plus 7 points to Jeff Hardy.

(8) 06/22/2012, BaseBrawl, TNA Live event from Buffalo, NY.
Samoa Joe defeated Mr. Anderson by pinfall

- This was the first BFG series match in a house show this year.
- Fun trivia:- Before Anderson got to say his last name, some fans said KENNEDY to which he replied, "No, he died in a train wreck" which got a good response. And then he said, "you can see that trainwreck every Monday night."
The equation: plus 7 points to Samoa Joe.

(9) 06/22/2012, BaseBrawl, TNA Live event from Buffalo, NY.
James Storm defeated Robbie E by pinfall

- Initially, Robbie E challenged Storm to a fist pumping contest, to which Storm said that there were more beer-drinkers in the house than fist-pumpers, and hence Storm instead challenged Robbie to a beer-drinking contest.
- Robbie E kept taking little sips and Storm eventually super kicked him and pinned him very quickly.
The equation: plus 7 points to James Storm.

(10) 06/23/2012, TNA Live event from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
Samoa Joe defeated Robbie E by pinfall

- A clean win after a muscle-buster.
The equation: plus 7 points to Samoa Joe.

(11) 06/23/2012, TNA Live event from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
Daniels defeated Kurt Angle by countout

- During the match, Kazarian came down to help Daniels, but was immediately knocked out of the ring by Angle. Daniels however took advantage of this situation, and knocked Angle out of the ring when his back was turned.
- Daniels then followed Angle outside to beat him some more, and then re-entered the ring, while Kazarian prevented Angle from re-entering in time, causing the countout finish.
The equation: plus 5 points to Daniels.

(12) 06/24/2012, TNA Live event from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
James Storm vs Mr. Anderson ended in a 10-minute time limit draw

- This was a super competitive match. In the end Storm hit the Last Call superkick on Anderson, but time ran out when the referee Earl Hebner's count was at 2.
- After the match, the fans and Storm requested it to be extended, but to no avail. Storm then offered Anderson a beer. Anderson refused, claiming to be a non-drinker, and got superkicked again.
The equation: plus 2 points to both James Storm and Mr. Anderson.

(13) 06/28/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Rob Van Dam defeated Mr. Anderson by pinfall

- In this face vs. face match, Anderson was the one who showed slightly heel tendencies, when he hit RVD in the jaw after motioning for a handshake. Unusually, even though Anderson was the one showing temporary heel tendencies, RVD was the one who controlled most of the match.
- Untrue to his nature, RVD tried a couple of submission holds on Anderson, hyping up the status of a submission win in the series.
- RVD finally won after countering by a crucifix pin out of a fireman's carry position on Anderson's shoulders.
The equation: plus 7 points to Rob Van Dam.

(14) 06/28/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Samoa Joe defeated Bully Ray by submission

- This was a typical "power men match", with both delivering big moves throughout the match.
- Bully Ray tried to get a countout victory on several occassions, after working on the left arm of Samoa Joe. The match passed the old 10 minute time-limit for BFG series matches during an attempt of Bully Ray to win by a countout, thus becoming the first singles BFG Series match this year to pass that limit.
- In his last attempt for a countout win, Ray first hit a big boot to Joe's face outside the ring, and while the referee was looking at Joe in the outside, Joseph Park came down to the ring apron, distracted and slapped Ray in the face.
- When Joe finally got back into the ring after that sequence, he saw a back-turned, groggy Bully Ray, and immediately capitalised on the situation with his Coquina Clutch for the submission victory.
- After the match, Park challenged Ray to a "fight" two weeks from now, and said that this thing is no longer due to Abyss, but it's personal now.
The equation: plus 10 points to Samoa Joe.

(15) 07/04/2012, Xplosion from Orlando, Fl.
Magnus defeated The Pope by pinfall

- This was the first BFG series match on Xplosion this year. Initially, Pope tried a choke-type submission, which Magnus got out of after a rope break. At that time The Pope made fun of him, but Magnus used that time to get to another corner and then outsmarted The Pope by throwing him into the turnbuckle, and hence outside, as we go for a commercial break.
- Magnus maintains control for well over 2-3 minutes after the break, when Pope, feeding off the crowd support, gets up from a sleeper-type sold, and then the two men hit each other with running clotheslines simultaneously. This is followed by the typical face comeback from Pope for about a brief minute.
- In the end, Magnus was playing possum, sitting near a turnbuckle, which led The Pope to attempt a DDE. But as soon as he was about to hit the DDE, Magnus pulled the referee Earl Hebner between them, distracting The Pope, leading to a Tormentum from Magnus for the pin and the win.
The equation: plus 7 points to Magnus.

(16) 07/05/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Jeff Hardy defeated James Storm by pinfall

- This was a usual fast-paced face vs face match-up. Hardy got most of the early aggression, with Storm being out of the ring during most part of the opening of the match.
- There were quick counters and pinfall attempts throughout the match.
- In the end, Hardy missed a Swanton, after which Storm connected with a top-rope elbow drop, after very slowly ascending the ropes. That got him a close 2 count.
- Storm then warmed up for the Last Call superkick, but Hardy played possum and made it look like he was unable to stand up. So Storm picked up Hardy, who immediately retaliated by ducking a superkick attempt and following right up with a Twist of Fate for the pin and the win.
- Storm looked frustrated after the match. He then shook hands with Hardy, and left the ring for Hardy to celebrate.
The equation: plus 7 points to Jeff Hardy.

(17) 07/06/2012, TNA Live Event from North Charleston, SC.
Jeff Hardy defeated Christopher Daniels by pinfall

- Before the match Daniels cut an arrogant promo, saying how awesome he was and the fact that everyone in the audience was such trash made him look even better. Then, wehen the match started, he immediately went outside the ring, and tried to stall the match, but Hardy took the fight to him.
- Daniels then tried to make nice, but Hardy was having none of it. A rake of the eyes proved to be an equalizer though, and Daniels then spent a lot of time working over Hardy's left arm.
- Hardy finally came back with a kick. The two traded offense. Daniels then missed a moonsault and Hardy hit the Twist of Fate for the pin and the win.
The equation: plus 7 points to Jeff Hardy.

(18) 07/06/2012, TNA Live Event from North Charleston, SC.
Kurt Angle defeated The Pope by submission

- Before the match, The Pope cut a promo in which he said that his luggage got lost, and that wouldn't have happened if this show were in Clemson. That got him lots of boos from the crowd.
- Angle then came out and controlled early. Pope hit a neckbreaker, but missed a running knee, which led to an Angle Slam and then the anklelock for the submission victory for Angle. Quick match.
The equation: plus 10 points to Kurt Angle.

(19) 07/08/2011, Destination X PPV Live from Orlando, Fl.
Samoa Joe defeated Kurt Angle by submission

- The match started with dueling chants from the fans as the two locked up in the corner.
- This was a very back-and-forth match, with lots of quick action, including 2-counts after muscle buster and Angle Slam, and multiple attempts at submission victories from the two.
- In the end, Angle dropped his straps in his trademark fashion, but was greeted by a kick to the face by Joe. Angle then attempts another Angle Slam after trading punches, but this time Joe countered and applied the Coquina Clutch. Angle never tapped, but due to his lack of movement, referee Earl Hebner thought he passed out, and hence gave the submission victory to Samoa Joe.
- Angle didn't actually pass out, and argued with the referee after the match. But it was over now.
The equation: plus 10 points to Samoa Joe.

(20) 07/12/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Rob Van Dam defeated Samoa Joe by pinfall

-RVD tried for a surfboard-looking submission move immediately after the match started, but but Joe easily reached the bottom rope for a break, without the hold even applied completely. This was followed by a brief control of Joe over the match, which included a legbar and an armbar submission holds on RVD.
- The crowd now got behind RVD, who came back with a series of kicks, and a great looking rolling thunder hitting Joe's back in a prone position. This was followed by a monkey flip attempt by RVD, but it was clocked, and instead blocked, and countered by Joe with a running chinbreaker, immediately followed by a figure-four leg-lock.
- When RVD reached the rope for th break, Joe pulled him again, which backfired on him, as RVD got an inside cradle for a quick pin and the win. Basically, Joe lost due to over-emphasizing on submissions.
The equation: plus 7 points to Rob Van Dam.

(21) 07/12/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Kurt Angle defeated Mr. Anderson by pinfall

- They hyped up the history between these two using interviews of the two talking about their long rivalry. During his self-announcing entrance, Anderson erroneously said that this match had a 20 minute time-limit. Angle came out next, and he had his game face on, as intense as ever.
- Barring a few bursts of agression from Anderson, Angle pretty much controlled the whole initial part of the match, keeping Anderson grounded with head-locks and stuffs. After about 10 minutes of control of Angle, Anderson finally made his comeback with a back suplex, followed by nemerous close pin attempts between the two.
- Angle then applied the Ankle Lock, and pulled Anderson inside just as he was able to get the rope-break. Anderson anyhow managed to break free, and hit the Mic Check for a super close 2 count.
Both men were down for some time after this. But when they got up, angle was able to hit the Olympic Slam for the pin and the win.
- After the match, we learned that Angle was bleeding heavily from the mouth, presumably due to the Mic Check, as he went to the back in celebration. On the other hand, ANderson sold the Ankle Lock some more, holding his ankle, in the ring, as Tenay wondered what condition he was in before his next BFG Series match against The Pope on Saturday in Memphis.
The equation: plus 7 points to Kurt Angle.

(22) 07/15/2012, Xplosion, from Orlando, Fl.
AJ Styles defeated Robbie E by pinfall

The equation: plus 7 points to AJ Styles.

(23) 07/14/2012, BaseBrawl, TNA Live event from Memphis, TN.

Samoa Joe defeated The Pope by submission

- Joe called out The Pope on Open Fight Night, saying that he always has had an issue with him. he said, that he will make him tap out.
- Match starts with quick strikes by Joe, but Pope manages to send Joe to the arena floor, to gain a little control, during which, Pope tried for some submssions also.
- In the end, Pope was trying to apply some submission hold, when Joe caught his head with his legs, while on the mat. that was a Juji-Gatame, for the quick submission win for Joe.
The equation: plus 10 points to Samoa Joe.

(27) 07/19/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Robbie E defeated Jeff Hardy by countout

- Hardy says he has someone in mind to call out, but before that, Robbie E comes down, saying how it's obvious that everyone in the series is ducking him. But that will not be the case tonight, as he calls out Hardy. Hardy obliges him, by accepting, but Robbie E hit Hardy before the bell, whie Robbie T was distracting him.
- Hardy was pretty much in control and apparentlly on the way to winning throughout the match, but there were repeated Robbie T interferences for him to deal with. At one point, Hardy misses a dive to the floor, but brawls with Robbie T afterwards, as he was so fed up of him.
- That brawl costed him the countout loss, while Robbie E celebrated in the ring as if he had won the world cup. That were his first points on the table.
The equation: plus 5 points to Robbie E.

(28) 07/19/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.
Mr. Anderson defeated AJ Styles by pinfall

- Anerson says that on last OFN, he called out a ouchebag, anies, but this time, he'll call out a man who he respects, a friend, and a brother, no matter how they try and smear his name.
- This was probably the longest series match this year without a time-limit draw finish. A typical face vs face back and forth match,
- in the end, Anerson managed to hit a BIG superflex for a very close 2 count. After that, he misses a clothesline, enabling Stytles to eventually attempt a Styles Clash, which was countered by Anderson into a cheap roll-up pin and the win. They shake hands after the match.
The equation: plus 7 points to Mr. Anderson.

(29) 07/19/2012, Impact Wrestling, LIVE from Orlando, Fl.

Bully Ray defeated Magnus by pinfall

- Those two were the only ones left after all the call outs, and they showed them backstage before Magnus' music hits. Ray attacs from behind as Magnus was coming down the ramp.

Samoa Joe defeated Magnus by pinfall

- Before the match, Magnus said that he not only knew Joe as a wrestler(while preparing to come to Impact wrestling, he used to watch lots of Samoa Joe), but as a man. He said that to beat a machine, you need to get inside his head. And that's what he'll do tonight.
- Throughout the match, Magnus managed to avoid most of Joe's submission attempts. But he seemed to be so overlyfocused on avoiding submission moves, that he was caught off guard by a roll-up pin attempt by Joe, causing him the match.
- After the match, Joe tried to shake hands with Magnus, who was sitting in the ring in despair and disappointment. When Magnus didn't budge, Joe tapped him in the back as a nice gesture, and left him in the ring, while Taz wondered whether Magnus was not happy with himself, or with Joe. Afterwards, Magnus hit Joe with a chair on his forearms, while Joe managed to block the intended head-shot, teasing a possible Magnus heel turn and future feud with Joe.
The equation: plus 7 points to Samoa Joe.

So, I've made the thread again this year, mainly because I enjoyed covering the series last year, gathering info on house show matches from wreslters' twitter, etc. I hope the new team of ADMINS/MODERATORS won't mind.
Back on topic, I think James Storm is going be in the series to avoid his rematch with Roode till BFG, and he'll win the series this year.

Edited with summary of first match and upcoming matches. Special BFG series cards of the 12 competitors(like these) are being made by Fyzza as we speak, so I'm waiting for it before updating the standings post. I included the important things from the gauntlet match as bullet points, and I plan on continuing like this for all future televised matches, so that this thread becomes as comprehensive as possible(yes, that particular post will become as long as The Great Khali by the time this series is over). I hope you guys like it.

And regarding the late update, due to not being in US, I have to download and watch Impact before updating, so there will always be a little delay in updating after an Impact or a PPV. Also, I request people to post here if they find info regarding any new match in the series, especially those from the house shows.

I am thinking of some other ideas to make this thread more interactive with some interesting weekly polls or something(not the boring kind of polls, like "who is winning this week?"), and will update soon. In the meantime, let's wait for Fyzza's cards.

I've updated the standings using spreadsheet feature of Google Docs. However, I couldn't upload the spreadsheet directly here using the BBCode mentioned here, and so had to grab an image of the spreadsheet, and post that here. Could 404 or Tiltman please look into a better way of embedding the data of my spreadsheet?

BTW, with Anderson not in the gauntlet, they are again not going to have the same number of matches for everyone. He just lost an opportunity to gain 20 points, which the other 11 had. Having a proper 12-man gauntlet after the Roode/Anderson match would be the correct idea. Whoever booked this didn't think that this will lead to unequal number of matches for different wrestlers in the end, which is exactly what they seem to be trying to avoid this year.

The card for this week's Houston show had NO BFG series matches, and their next house show is on Friday, the 22nd from Buffalo, NY. So, the first house show BFG series matches will happen after next Impact only.
PS:- Fyzza is having some problems with his computer, so no BFG series cards for now.

Yeah I think Anderson should have no complaint about the 20 points, but I would have liked to see one on one matches all the way. The battle royal could have just been used to introduce the wrestlers with winner just getting bragging rights or first in line for OFN call out. I think it would have been cool if the whole (or most) roster was backstage during the battle royal waiting to find out if they were in the series and finding out when their music hit.

You should have mailed this to TNA. Seriously, this idea would make the series look bigger. And did you really mean to say Anderson shouldn't complain for those 20 points?

How do I mail to TNA? Do people do that? And yes, Anderson got a title shot that night. He's lucky he doesn't start with negative points in a series where the ultimate goal is a title shot. Anderson's problem, though, would have been solved had there not been points on the line in the Gauntlet Rumble.

^I didn't mean that literally. I just wished someone told this idea to the creative.
And what do you mean by Anderson not starting with negative points?

I can logically accept that anybody in the BFG series would willingly trade 20 points for a title shot...'cause if they're already the champ going into Bound for Glory, they're in the main event anyway.
