It was reported last month that TNA Wrestler Kurt Angle was to be an Inductee into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. Angle was unable to attend the ceremony because of wedding plans and other obligations with Angle Foods. Since Angle could not attend Jerry Brisco auctioned off his award for $250.

Here are tweets about the incident:

Jim Ross - "Kurt Angle was unable to attend the HOF in Waterloo 2nite. Jerry Brisco auctioned off the award 4 $250."

Kurt Angle - "Jerry Brisco Made a Mockery Out Of Me and the Dan Gable Museum HOF By Auctioning Off My Award. This Award Is a Huge Honor. U Spit on Me ...Due to Obligations I Had With My Wedding, I Could Not Attend HOF. I Even Made a 10 Min Video Proudly Accepting this Great Honor.I'm Disappointed I Couldn't Go, But Devastated Jerry Gave Away My Award. Very Classy Jerry."

So stupid and f*ck that. Celebrities who try and solicit money from fans for something like this are disgusting.
"I think people that haven't been able to catch TNA IMPACT, the show or live event, need to check it out. Rent a pay-per-view, give us a chance and we'll make you a fan. I promise"

Haha pretty funny.

But its actually a big deal that the honored wrestler shows up. Especially after agreeing to it in the first place. Backing out in the last minute is a big nono and in their minds a sign of disrespect to the award itself.

This guy explains it pretty well:

If they gave the award away for $250, it must be worth next to nothing anyway.

it's hardly prestigious as the mass doesn't even know of this "HOF" CEREMONY to begin with.

It's like a pissing contest. You can't show up to accept the award so I'll sell your award. Give me a break.

I have been resurrected

One more shot

And then I'm over and out

I'm gonna show the non believers what I'm talking about

right so you bust your butt for years in the wrestling industry, get into a hall of fame (that most people don't recognize in the first place i might add) and because you can't show up, they sell your plaque? I understand that these guys are there paying tribute to wrestlers but i had no idea that someone could actually sell off Angle's hard work and dedication.

This is another reason why other hall of fames are simply recognized as more legitimate than this one. This is like going off and selling someone's credibility in the wrestling industry on a podium with 50 people there. Could you imagine if Vince McMahon got up in front of a small group of people, called for a wrestler to come out and pay tribute to all of his hard work, the wrestler doesnt appear and vince simply sells off his hall of fame ring for a few dollars?

Yup and someone else was making "gay" tweets from JBLs cell phone while he was accepting the award. Wrestlers are nothing more than over grown 3rd graders.

I view it like this "at least they acknowledged your talent. It's not always about the money". People are so money hungry or worried about how many people know their names or how many people follow them on Twitter. Or how much money is in their bank account. What happened to being grateful. Shit they didn't have to acknowledge any of these wrestlers. But someone gave a damn enough to get together these people & "honor" them. Yeah it was fucked up that Jerry sold his award because he seems like a dick. But at least the man in charge even acknowledged Kurt. Hell it could've been on the side of the road & made out of someones soccer trophy at least they acknowledged your ass that much
